We want to let people know that the Spiritual Practice Team (SPT) has changed their name back to the Worship Committee and this decision has been approved by the RHUC Board. We feel it is less cumbersome and clearer as a title.
We had our first monthly meeting with Rev. Lee-Ann Ahlstrom on September 9 and we were so pleased to welcome her. We are also happy to report that Donna DeVita has joined our committee. Welcome Lee-Ann and Donna!
Also, we wanted to let you know that we will be celebrating communion on Thanksgiving Sunday (October 12) this year rather than on October 5 which is World Communion Sunday. There were several reasons for this decision.
Communion in the Parlour will be different than it is experienced in the Sanctuary due to space constraints. We have ordered Fellowship Cups (the individual sets of juice and wafers we used during Pandemic times) for use in the Parlour. The service on October 5 will be Lee-Ann's first Sunday back after her trip, and she suggested we celebrate communion on Thanksgiving Sunday instead of October 5 to allow more time for planning and we thought this was a good idea. Barry will be delivering a message on October 5 on the new hymn book supplement, "Then Let Us Sing!" We will get to hear and sing some of the new, beautiful music in this new resource.

To close, here's an interesting fact about World Communion Sunday (which used to be called Worldwide Communion Sunday)... World Communion Sunday is a celebration observed by several Protestant denominations, taking place on the first Sunday of every October, that promotes Christian unity and ecumenical cooperation. It focuses on an observance of Communion. The tradition was begun in 1933 by Hugh Thomson Kerr who ministered in the Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania, USA.
